Universidade Portucalense at the ECOViP Boot Camp 2024

The ECOViP BootCamp 2024, dubbed “Ala Eh, DI’NE! Developing Innovation in eNtrepreneurship & Ecotourism,” was hosted by the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas from July 22 to 27. The aim of the ECOViP Boot Camp 2024 was to foster innovative entrepreneurial ventures in the ecotourism sector by uniting students from diverse academic disciplines including Tourism, Natural Sciences, and ICT. Through this project, students had the opportunity to embark on real-world entrepreneurial journeys and gain awareness of the potential for sustainable tourism projects within the natural environment. Participants from Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, University of San Carlos, Can Tho University, Nha Trang University and Thai Nguyen University of Science collaborated and shared their unique perspectives and innovative ideas for ecotourism projects in this 6-day event. The teams underwent comprehensive training and mentorship related to business development and ecotourism initiatives, aimed at guaranteeing that their projects were not only innovative but also feasible and impactful. The participants were mentored by the experts from University of Alicante, University Portucalense, Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Manila, University of San Carlos, and FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences. Presentation of research work for the Doctorate in Business Sciences

On 17 July 2024, the 2nd PhD Research Seminar was held, in which the students of the PhD in Business Sciences presented their research work. The seminar featured seven presentations by students Zulmira Soares, Bruno Rego, Natália Costa, Diogo Dantas, Victor Santos, Catarina Morais and Mateus da Silva and was a moment of sharing and socialising to mark the end of the academic year. Luís Pacheco and Jorge Marques, REMIT researchers, took part in the 1st International Conference of the Universidad Católica Boliviana “San Pablo”

Between 11 and 13 March, REMIT researchers Luís Pacheco and Jorge Marques took part in the 1st International Conference of the Universidad Católica Boliviana “San Pablo”, in La Paz, Bolivia, on the theme “Scientific research: an approach from management, its strategic role in development and its contribution in the context of the climate crisis”, as part of the Innova Erasmus+ research project. Luís Pacheco presented the paper “Research Management in higher Education institutions from developing countries: An analysis for Bolivia and Paraguay”, while Jorge Marques presented the topic: “La interacción entre el cambio climático y el turismo”. With the presentation and approval, unanimously and with distinction, of her thesis entitled “Nexus between triple bottom line and economic development”, doctoral student Elisabete Nogueira completed her PhD in Business Sciences on 8 March 2024. The thesis was supervised by Prof Dr Sofia Gomes, an integrated member of REMIT, and co-supervised by Prof João Lopes, a lecturer at the University of Beira Interior and ISMT.

The ERASMUS+ FENICE Project (https://remit.upt.pt/fenice-pt/) was recently honoured with the Quality label for outstanding results award, presented by the Prime Minister of Bulgaria to the project coordinator from Varna University of Management.
